A Heart of Worship

By Kendall Thorsell

Hebrews 12:28Since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be destroyed, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.”

Psalm 96:1  “Sing a new song to the LORD!   Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!  Sing to the LORD; praise His name.  Each day proclaim the good news that He saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.  Tell everyone about the amazing things He does.  Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise!”

We serve a God who loves when we acknowledge Him.  In a world full of busy people, it is far too easy for us to forget that we can’t even breath without Him.  He is the reason we are alive… and our reason for living.  I actually find it really amazing that the God who created everything would desire us to worship Him. It’s crazy!  He see’s everything… know’s everyone… questions to ask . yet the Scriptures show us that worship always gets His attention. He has called us all to be worshippers!

As a worship leader, I believe that it is very possible to have the title “worship leader” without being a worshipper.  There are a lot of talented people out there, a lot of people who can sing, play an instrument, write songs, lead a band, and plan out set’s for  Sunday morning church service.  There are not, however, as many people who know how to really worship.  I mean, REALLY worship.  When you are REALLY worshipping it doesn’t matter what song you are singing, what genre you are playing, or who is in the room… you just worship.  “Play for an audience of One,” as I like to think about it.

When I was in my first year of ministry school, I had a very significant dream for my life.  I was singing on a stage, a huge stage, in a room that could have easily fit 10,000 or more people.  My eyes were closed but I still knew exactly where I was. As I would sing, I could hear the echo coming from my voice that really confirmed the size of the room.  I was singing with all my might, holding out notes, just having such a good time.   As I was singing, I opened my eyes, expecting to see the room filled with thousands of people, but I initially saw no one.  I scanned my eyes across the balcony levels, and still saw no one.  When my eyes reached the floor level…. I saw one single chair.  One chair sitting in the middle of this gigantic room.  Sitting in the chair was Jesus. When my eyes met with His, I went from being slightly disappointed that the room wasn’t filled with people, to feeling overwhelmed with joy by having Jesus sitting there before me.  Right then I heard Him say,  “If the only person who ever hears you sing is Me, that is all that matters.”

From the moment I had that dream, I have been convinced of the Lord’s heart for worship.  He desires that we worship Him. REALLY worship Him, with all of our other motives aside.  The thing about worship… is it is really about Him, not about us. He desires to hear our voice and desires that we release a NEW SONG from within our hearts. I know without a doubt that there will be a new song released from the Bride of Christ, and it is going to be the most beautiful song that has even been heard.  It will be pure and powerful. documents online . It will echo across the nations. I want to be apart of releasing that song!

My point in writing this is to encourage you. Whoever you are, wherever you have been, and whatever your talents are doesn’t really matter in the end.  Your God desires that you step into your role as a worshipper… and worship.  Worship to an audience of One. is netflix site down . Do it for no other reason but that He deserves your praise. I mean, seriously, where would we be without Him anyway?
