The early church understood the importance of prayer. It was the key to their ability to stay connected to God and then minister in power.

1. They prayed together often as a group, with praise and worship.

And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple blessing God. Luke 24:52-53 ESV

All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers. Acts 1:14 ESV

And day by day, attending the temple…praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 ESV

2. Their prayers released miracles and salvation

When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Acts 2:1-2 ESV

This prayer meeting released an outpouring of the Holy Spirit with 3000 souls saved in one day (vs 40)

Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. Acts 3:1 ESV

Peter and John prayed for a beggar, he was miraculously healed at the temple and the church grew to 5000 souls. (Acts 4:4)

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake… Acts 16:25-26 ESV

The Philippian jailer and his entire household were saved and the Philippian church was established with power.

3. The early church was firmly established as a house of prayer by the Apostles.

But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:4 ESV

Of course we can meet God anywhere, which is a central truth of the New Covenant. At the same time, our busy schedules and independent lifestyles keep us from spending the time we really need in the presence of God, His word and from rich spiritual connection with other believers. This leaves many believers feeling disconnected from God’s presence and spiritually dry.

The believers in Acts set their hearts on prayer, worship, fellowship and the word. This is what we do at Resound.

The church at the end of the age will be a praying church. Notice how prayer is involved in these passages from Revelation:

And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne, 4 and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel. 5 Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake. Rev 8:3-5 ESV

We can see from this passage that our prayers affect God and angels and will be used to release power from heaven on the earth.

The harvest is ready.  Jesus asked us to pray t0 the God of the harvest to send out laborers into the nations.  This is our mandate and passion.

We believe we have been positioned on OBT, the spine of Orlando, to bring in into alignment with King Jesus.  We are contending for revival on OBT…  We are praying that strip clubs be converted to houses of prayer.  We believe prostitutes will be redeemed to prophesy.

History belongs to the intercessor!
